IT Support in Toronto
Managed IT, cybersecurity and helpdesk support for Toronto's professional firms, agencies, clinics and independent operators.
40+ years of combined experience · Same-day on-site in Toronto
Toronto has a problem the rest of the region mostly doesn't: your building is part of your IT. Whose internet comes into the suite, who controls the riser, whether you can get a cabinet up the service elevator before four o'clock, and how long the landlord takes to approve any of it. Half the delay on a Toronto office move has nothing to do with technology.
The other half is that a lot of Toronto businesses now own no equipment at all. No server, no cabinet, maybe not even a switch that belongs to them — everything in Microsoft 365 and a handful of SaaS tools. That is a perfectly good place to be, and it changes the job entirely: the risk moves off the hardware and onto who has access to what, and whether anyone would notice if that quietly changed.
We cover the old city and the inner suburbs from elsewhere in the GTA, and we are set up for both versions — the suite with a comms cupboard nobody has opened since 2019, and the thirty-person firm whose whole operation is a browser tab.
What we handle for Toronto businesses
Managed IT Services
Monitoring, patching and unlimited helpdesk on a flat monthly rate, whether you own a rack or nothing at all.
Backup Solutions
Backups for Microsoft 365 and the cloud tools your work lives in — the data your provider does not promise to keep for you.
Full Networking & Wi-Fi
Suite networking that works around building risers, shared bandwidth and landlord approvals rather than pretending they don't exist.
VoIP Phone Systems
Phone systems that follow hybrid staff between office and home without publishing anyone's mobile number.
Website Hosting & Design
Fast, secure sites we host and maintain — often the first impression a Toronto client gets.
Video Security Systems
Discreet camera coverage for suites, studios and storefronts, viewable remotely.
Built for the way Toronto works
Professional and financial services
Firms in and around the financial district hold client information that is genuinely valuable to somebody else, and they are increasingly asked to prove how it is protected before winning work. We handle multi-factor authentication, conditional access, retention, and the email authentication that stops a convincing payment-redirect email arriving in your name — then write it down so a client questionnaire is a form-filling exercise rather than a fire drill.
Agencies, studios and creative teams
King West, Liberty Village and the east-end studios run on large files, freelancers who come and go, and a tool list that changes every quarter. The risk is rarely a hacker; it is a contractor who still has access to a client's drive eighteen months after the project ended. We put proper joiners-and-leavers process around that, and make sure the working files are backed up somewhere other than one person's laptop.
Clinics and healthcare practices
Practices across midtown, North York and Scarborough carry real obligations around patient records, usually with no internal IT and a practice-management system nobody wants to touch. We set up access by role, encrypt and restore-test the backups, and document how patient information is handled — the thing that gets asked for at the worst possible moment.
Hospitality, retail and independents
Restaurants, shops and independent operators need the card terminal, the guest Wi-Fi and the back-office system kept firmly apart, and they need someone to answer on a Saturday when the point-of-sale stops taking payments. We keep those networks separated properly and treat a payment outage as the emergency it actually is.
What clients say
“Contracted the team at CanopyTech to design/build and provide support for my business website. The experience was professional and the team responded to my inquiries in a timely matter.”
“Marc dealt with me personally, (one never gets to deal with the owner of the business!) and found some hidden land mines left by the old host.”

Where we cover in Toronto
We cover the City of Toronto — downtown and the financial district, the west end through King West, Liberty Village and the Junction, midtown and Yorkville, the east end, and out into North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke. Downtown attendance is planned around building access and loading-dock hours rather than assumed, because in a tower that is usually what decides how quickly anything gets done.

Common questions from Toronto businesses
Our building provides the internet. Does that change anything?
It changes quite a lot. Shared building bandwidth is convenient until a neighbour saturates it, and you usually have no visibility and no priority. We will tell you plainly whether what you have is adequate, and where a dedicated circuit is worth the money rather than reflexively selling you one.
We have no server — everything is in Microsoft 365. Do we still need managed IT?
The work changes rather than disappears. With no server, your risk sits almost entirely in identity: who can sign in, from where, and what they can reach. That plus proper Microsoft 365 backup, device management and someone to call is most of what a cloud-only business actually needs.
Does Microsoft not back up our data already?
Not in the way most people assume. Microsoft keeps the service running and protects against their own failures; recovering a mailbox someone deleted months ago, or files a ransomware event encrypted and then synced, is your responsibility. It is one of the most common gaps we find in cloud-only businesses.
How does on-site support work downtown?
Most issues are resolved remotely within the hour, which downtown is often faster than any visit could be. When someone does need to attend, we book building access and the service elevator in advance where the landlord requires it, because turning up without that booked is how a fifteen-minute job becomes a wasted afternoon.
Can you handle an office move or a new suite fit-out?
Yes, and the early conversation matters more than the moving day. Riser access, cabling routes, carrier lead times and landlord approvals all have to start weeks ahead. We would rather be involved when you sign the lease than the week before you move.
What does managed IT cost in Toronto?
A flat monthly rate per user, quoted after a free assessment. For a cloud-only business it usually comes out lower than people expect, because there is no server estate to look after — you are paying for identity, devices, backup and support rather than a room full of equipment.
