IT Support for Logistics, Transport and Distribution
IT for operations where the clock does not stop, the building fights your wireless, and a scanner that will not read means product that does not move.
40+ years of combined experience · Flat monthly pricing
Distribution is unusually exposed to small technology failures because so little of the work can proceed without the system. A warehouse where scanners have stopped reading is not running slowly; it has stopped, and the trucks booked against it do not care why.
The environment itself is hostile in ways an office never is. Steel racking, concrete, moving metal, and a stock profile that changes what the building does to a radio signal — wireless that was surveyed when the racks were empty behaves differently once they are full.
There is also rarely a convenient hour. An operation running two or three shifts, or through the night to hit morning delivery windows, has no natural maintenance window, so work has to be planned into the gaps that do exist rather than assumed.
What we handle for logistics & transport
Full Networking & Wi-Fi
Wireless surveyed against your racking and your stock profile, with coverage where scanning actually happens rather than where it is easy to mount.
Managed IT Services
Monitoring and support that matches a two-shift or overnight operation, on a flat monthly rate.
Backup Solutions
Restore-tested backups of the warehouse and dispatch systems, with a recovery time measured against a shift rather than a day.
Business Cybersecurity
Account and device protection across a workforce that is mostly not sitting at a desk, plus the controls customers now ask about.
VoIP Phone Systems
One number for the whole operation, so a customer reaches dispatch and a driver reaches the office without anybody's cell being passed around.
Website Hosting & Design
Hosting and a site that stays up and quick, including any tracking or booking page attached to it.
What's different about this work
Wireless that has to work where the product is
Warehouse coverage is a physical problem, not a matter of buying better access points. Racking blocks and reflects, aisles behave like corridors, freezers are effectively shielded rooms, and coverage that tested clean in an empty building degrades as it fills. It needs surveying against the racking layout you actually run, with attention to the places scanning genuinely happens — receiving, pick faces, dock doors — rather than uniform coverage that is adequate nowhere in particular.
No maintenance window worth the name
An operation running around the clock cannot be taken down for convenience, so changes have to be planned into whatever gap exists — between shifts, across a shutdown, or in the quiet hour a particular operation happens to have. It also raises the value of being able to undo things quickly: a change that can be reversed in five minutes is a very different proposition at two in the morning than one that cannot.
Customer connections that are yours to keep running
EDI feeds, customer portals and carrier integrations are how orders and status actually move, and when one silently stops the first sign is often a customer asking where something is. These deserve monitoring in their own right rather than being assumed healthy because the server is up. Knowing a feed has stopped within minutes is worth considerably more than discovering it on a phone call the next day.
Devices that live a hard life
Scanners, tablets and cab-mounted devices get dropped, soaked, left in vehicles overnight and used by whoever is on shift. They need to be centrally managed, replaceable without reconfiguration by hand, and wipeable when one goes missing — because one will. The goal is that losing a device is a minor cost rather than an incident.
Systems we expect to find
These are the systems the work actually runs on, and the ones a general IT contract tends to leave to the software vendor. We treat them as in scope.
- Warehouse management systems
- Transport management and dispatch
- Handheld and vehicle-mounted scanners
- Barcode and shipping label printing
- EDI feeds to customers and carriers
- Proof-of-delivery capture
- Telematics and ELD platforms
- Yard and dock scheduling
- Customer tracking portals
- Freezer and cold-chain monitoring

Common questions
Our scanners keep dropping in certain aisles. Is that fixable?
Usually, and usually it is coverage rather than the scanners. It needs surveying with the racking as it actually stands and as full as it actually gets, because an empty building gives a misleading result. The fix is normally repositioning and adding access points against the real layout rather than replacing hardware.
We run two shifts. When would you do disruptive work?
In whatever gap your operation genuinely has, agreed in advance — between shifts, during a shutdown, or in a quiet window particular to your site. We also favour changes that can be reversed quickly, because the ability to undo something in minutes matters more at 3am than it does at 3pm.
Can you monitor our EDI feeds and customer integrations?
Yes, and we treat them as systems in their own right rather than assuming they are fine because the server responds. The point is to know a feed has stopped within minutes instead of hearing about it from the customer whose order did not arrive.
What happens when a driver loses a device?
If devices are centrally managed, it is an inconvenience: the device gets wiped remotely, a replacement is enrolled without anyone rebuilding it by hand, and the account is secured. If they are not managed, the same event is a data question nobody can answer. Getting that arrangement in place is one of the first things we do.
How is your pricing structured?
A flat monthly rate per user, quoted after a free assessment. Where an operation runs many shared devices against comparatively few named users, we work out how that lands together before quoting, not after you have signed.
