IT Support in Guelph

Managed IT, cybersecurity and helpdesk support for Guelph's manufacturers, agri-food businesses, practices and professional firms.

40+ years of combined experience · Remote support usually within the hour

Guelph is a research city that also makes things, and the two overlap more than an outsider would guess. It is home to the Ontario Veterinary College, with an agri-food and animal health cluster that grew up around it and advanced manufacturing running right through the city alongside both. Business here runs from food plants with traceability obligations to machine shops feeding the automotive tier.

The practical consequence is that a lot of Guelph companies depend on systems a general IT provider quietly treats as out of scope — plant-floor scheduling, lab and sample tracking, animal health practice software, quality records somebody will eventually audit. None of them are the systems anyone thinks about until the morning they will not load.

We look after small and mid-sized businesses in Guelph from the GTA. Most of the work is remote and quick. When something genuinely needs hands on hardware we book the drive properly, rather than pretend Guelph is twenty minutes from Mississauga.

Built for the way Guelph works

Food processing and agri-food

Guelph's food and agri-food businesses carry record-keeping obligations most IT providers have never had to think about. Batch and lot records, temperature logs and supplier documentation have to be retrievable long after the product shipped, and a recall is exactly the wrong moment to discover the backup covered the accounting server but not the system holding traceability data. We back up the systems your compliance actually rests on, restore-test them so recovery time is a measured number rather than a hope, and keep production equipment segmented away from anything facing the internet.

Advanced manufacturing and automotive supply

The machine shops, tooling firms and parts suppliers around the city run controllers and inspection equipment that will comfortably outlast several more versions of Windows, and replacing them is almost never the sensible answer. We put those machines on their own network segments, restrict what they are allowed to reach, and concentrate monitoring and backup on the scheduling and quality systems that would actually halt a shift. Increasingly we also answer the security questionnaires larger customers now send down the supply chain before they will place an order.

Veterinary and animal health practices

The Ontario Veterinary College anchors a cluster of practices, diagnostic services and animal health companies across the city. These businesses run practice-management and imaging software a generalist tends to treat as the vendor's problem, while holding client records and payment information like any other practice. We grant access by role so staff see what their job needs, encrypt and restore-test the backups, and write down how records are handled so the answer exists before anyone has to ask for it.

Downtown professional and financial firms

The lawyers, accountants, advisors and consultancies concentrated in the downtown core live inside Microsoft 365 and inside client files that are painful to lose and considerably worse to leak. We put multi-factor authentication on every account rather than the ones people remember, configure email authentication so nobody can send a convincing invoice in your firm's name, and make file access something you can describe to a client without having to hedge.

What clients say

“Great IT work. Marc setup all the networking and phone lines for my company. Marc also setup fail safes just in case the internet were to go down.”
Elle Wore It
“Marc dealt with me personally, (one never gets to deal with the owner of the business!) and found some hidden land mines left by the old host.”
Gregory George

Where we cover in Guelph

We cover Guelph from the Hanlon Creek Business Park and the south end up through downtown and Exhibition Park to the York Road and Speedvale industrial areas. The Hanlon Expressway and the 401 interchange south of the city make the run out from the GTA straightforward, and because Guelph sits outside our same-day on-site area we schedule visits rather than promise one — most problems never need a visit, and the ones that do are worth planning properly.

Common questions from Guelph businesses

You are based in the GTA. Does that work for a Guelph business?

For most of what goes wrong, yes — it gets fixed remotely, usually inside the hour, and where we sit makes no difference to that. Where it does matter is hardware, and we would rather be straight about it: Guelph is outside the area where we promise same-day on-site, so a visit is something we schedule with you. If you need someone physically in the building within two hours on a regular basis, a Guelph-based provider is the more honest fit.

Can you support equipment running software the vendor stopped patching?

Yes, and in a manufacturing city it comes up constantly. Scrapping a machine that still holds tolerance because its controller runs something old is rarely justifiable. The approach is to put it behind its own segment, keep its list of permitted destinations short, watch it, and strip out any dependency that would drag something important down with it.

Our customers have started sending security questionnaires. Can you help?

That is now one of the more common reasons a supplier calls us. We work through what the questionnaire is actually asking, fix the gaps that matter, and give you documented answers you can send with confidence rather than guesses. Multi-factor authentication, tested backups, device management and email authentication cover the bulk of what these forms ask about.

Do you work with veterinary and medical practices?

Yes. In Guelph that often means veterinary and animal-health software alongside the human-practice kind, and we take all of it on directly rather than leaving it with the vendor. Permissions follow the job a person actually does, backups get proven by an actual restore rather than a green tick, and the handling of client and patient records gets written down — that last piece is usually the one missing when an insurer or a regulator finally asks for it.

We already have an IT provider. How disruptive is changing?

Less than most people expect, and the disruptive steps get scheduled outside your production hours. We start with an assessment of what is actually in place, which routinely surfaces duplicate licences and a backup nobody has restored from. You keep that assessment whether or not you decide to go ahead with us.

How is your pricing structured?

A flat monthly rate per user, quoted after a free assessment. Pricing it that way means a bad month costs you the same as a quiet one. Under hourly billing the invoice peaks at exactly the moment the problem does, which is the worst possible time to be reading one.
